A Stolen Life - Jaycee Dugard Ummmmmm. I borrowed this one from a co-worker. I am returning it unfinished. I can't do it. I tried. It is so graphic that it almost made me physically ill. I cannot remember the last time when I folded on a book because it turned me ill. I have met my match. I am horrified at what the woman had to go through and really wanted to read about her struggles. It wasn't to be. I am out.
Twilight - Stephenie Meyer I am shocked that I actually loved this book. I have no idea why I picked it up from the library other than it was next to an author I was looking at in the library. I picked it up on a whim. The only slight problem I have with the book is how Edward so often treats her like a dim-whitted child. That ended up getting on my nerves. That aside, I have already checked out New Moon.
Crescendo - Becca Fitzpatrick Not as good as Hush Hush, however, I still had a great love for the first book which helped save the less than thrilling sequel. I am still hopiing the 3rd book (due to come out in October I believe) will perk the series back up to life.
The Butterfly Garden: Surviving Childhood on the Run with One of America's Most Wanted - Chip St. Clair I finished this book in less than 24 hours. Disturbing. The author is not a writter by profession, so don't expect this if you end up reading this book. It is however a fast moving insightful and gut wrenching picture of what must have been a horrifying experience. I am not sure how a person recovers from this type of continual abuse. I kept expecting at the end to see some sort of counseling treatment connected to his healing/recovery, but there is no mention of it. I am surprized by that. I am still processing the book as it has only been a few hours since I have finished it. I may ammend my review in the next few days with more thoughts.
Mother of Pearl - Melinda Haynes Re-reading. I love all of Oprah's older book reads. This is one of them. I picked up another copy at a thrift store for a $1.20, so why not?
Yarn Harlot: The Secret Life of a Knitter - Stephanie Pearl-McPhee Every knitter has probably read this book already. I loved it. I laughed throughout it. Fantastic.
Kristin Knits: 27 Inspired Designs for Playing with Color - Kristen Nicholas Wow what a great book! I would actually pay (never full price of course) for this book. Well worth it.
The White Queen - Philippa Gregory Ummmmm no. I am gonna pass on this one. I know that this book has gotten good reviews, but I cannot seem to understand why. The first 100 pages reads like a Harlequin novel. I hate those type of books. I will throw this one back in the pond for someone else.
She's Come Undone - Wally Lamb 8.25.2020 Christ am I done with this book? It's like a train wreck that I can stop watching. Or in this case, reading. Basically, I hate the main character. There is nothing redeeming about this girl. She is a self-centered bitch of a brat. I loath her. So..really even if she turns the corner on her behavior in the next few chapters that are remaining. I still won't like her and since she is the main character...what's the point? I will finish and throw back in the Paperback Swap pile asap and get the stink out of my house. Wow! That review is a real downer huh?

I finished. I don't know where to begin. My last progress thoughts on the book still stand. I hated the main character. I saw one other review here on GR say that this was the worst book ever read. I wouldn't say it was the worst, but I would put it in the "worst of" pile. I don't think the author ever got me to want to cheer her on through all her life troubles. It was a bummer to read and the ending was sharp flat. I am however glad to be done with this nightmare.
I Know This Much Is True - Wally Lamb The book was a beautiful read. Well written and the characters fully developed. I like novels that dig deep and flower at the end. It was really gut wrenching at times reading about how mental illness can hijack families. On the other hand, it is a testiment to the wonderful healing process therapy can offer for those who choose it. He stuck with it and in the end he was healed, sparked, reconnected and bound to all the good things he needed and his life and landed in a place that he never expected. He became whole. And yes...at the end I cried.
Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of Your Life - 'John Townsend', 'Henry Cloud' I spent the last few evenings reading this. So far, it is the by far the most life changing book I have ever read. I think this book is for everyone. Everyone!
Finished!! Outstanding book. Enlightening, thought provoking and touched me very deeply.
SELBUVOTTER: Biography of a Knitting Tradition - Terri Shea God I love this book. I need, need to buy this book to keep at home. I looooove it!
Running with Scissors - Augusten Burroughs As I am reading this, the wheels are turing in my mind that I rented this movie at some point. The movie was gawd awful, and taking a look at the reviews here, this book may reveal the same trend. I will give it another 24 hours and if I can take it, otherwise off to the PaperBackSwap pond.

This book has me completely repulsed, but I can't stop reading it! I am appauled at the lifestyle the author had to live with while growing up. Yet, I am amazed at the inner spirit he must have had to overcome growing up in an environment that what was essentially like living in a mental institution. If the book jacket didn't say it was a true story, I would swear it was fiction.

I still think the movie was horried, however, the book is reading pretty good. I will finish it probably sometime today.

Finished. Bizzare. I still like the train wreck analogy. Was a very fast read and the book was not too long. I would recommend this book. The characters were well developed (while bizzare) believable.
Wench - Dolen Perkins-Valdez Can' seem to get into this book. I am putting it to rest for awhile.
Folk Shawls: 25 knitting patterns and tales from around the world (Folk Knitting series) - Cheryl Oberle One of my all time favorite knitting books. One day I will buy it and not have to keep checking it out at the library.
It's a Long Road to a Tomato: Tales of an Organic Farmer Who Quit the Big City for the (Not So) Simple Life - Keith Stewart, Flavia Bacarella I really loved this book. One of my all time favorites. I read it about 4 years ago. I need to pull this one out again and give it a go again. Great summer read on the back porch!
